What is Claremont Coworking?
Claremont Coworking ("ClareCo") is a community of students and independent workers interested in sharing a physical space to do their work. As independent workers we know that the allure of working from home quickly fades and working in coffee shops can get old almost immediately. Instead, we are searching for like-minded individuals who want to "work separately, together."
Wait, what is coworking?
Coworking is a phenomenon that began in the early 2000's to meet a need of a new workforce -- people who could work from nearly anywhere. These newly independent workers were working from home offices, libraries, cafes and a retinue of other locations. However, many of them became dissatisfied with these choices and decided to band together to form coworking spaces. A coworking space generally consists of an open floor plan with desks, a good internet connection, and other office amenities that may be out of reach for an independent worker (and copious amounts of coffee). By coming together and sharing these resourcs, both physical and social, many independent workers have found their work situations to be much more rewarding and enjoyable.
How can I get involved?
As of yet ClareCo does not have a physical office space. However, as many people involved in the coworking movement will tell you, the physical space is always secondary to the community that fills it. So that's where we're currently focusing our attention -- building a community of people who are excited by the idea of coworking in Claremont and are interested in helping make it a reality.
There are a couple ways you can get involved right now. First, join the mailing list to ensure you're kept up to date regarding upcoming events and (eventually) the opening of a physical location. Second, come join us at one of our weekly "jellies" where we all meet up at a location and spend an afternoon working together. A list of upcoming jellies hosted by ClareCo can be found below. Finally, spread the word about this group to your friends in the area who might be interested in joining us as well!

Every Friday we meet at the Claremont Consortium building at the corner of 1st and Mills in Claremont (the neat building with the wood slats on the outside)! join us for an afternoon of working together, helping each other, and being around other cool folks.
